I had a great talk with Hannah today. Some key points were:
1. Posters really don't make any sense with what I want to do.
2. A smart articulate way to describe my project would be to completely eliminate the words "greeting card" and to describe it as trying to find an alternative way for nonverbal communication. (particularly interpersonal communication)
3. Some important cards express ambivalence, conflicted emotion and complexity.
4. We talked about grouping the cards into a kit, set, game etc.
Below are images that will be in my presentation tomorrow. They are phrases that would make up cards. If two people each had a kit of cards or maybe it would just be one to share, you could choose what you were trying to say and respond. Just a starting point for the next step.
Hey, so it seems like you are really into the whole interaction thing recently (game, juxtaposed phrases, etc). You could look into pop -up design - I'm thinking of 'cards' that have a sentence with a word at the end of a phrase on a sliding tab, so that it can be replaced and change the meaning. "kinda sorta maybe think you're (awesome/ obnoxious)."
ReplyDeleteIt gets back to a tactile experience and an ambivalent meaning. I'm sure you could push that little pop up example in interesting/ crazy directions- if you wanted to. Just a thought :-)
(The Grad Library has a special collection of pop up books)
