really, what im trying to say

i dont know how many times a day i hear this. it goes along with the kinda sorta maybe idea. people say this when they are trying to be honest, or sometimes when they are making a joke. "really, what im trying to say is".."i am so happy i met you" in a serious light or "what im really trying to say is"..."i wish you weren't so awkward" in a much less serious light.
